Seagate Announces New 3.5in Hard Drive Line Using Perpendicular Recording

Seagate has announced a new line of 3.5 inch hard drives using perpendicular recording. They claim that the new drives, spinning at 15,000 rpm, are the first to break the 100MBps (yes, that's megabytes per second) transfer rate. They will initially offer a 300GB 4 platter, 147GB 2 platter, and 73GB 1 platter drive. No word yet on how much the new drives will cost.
