American College of Radiology Slams Tom Cruise
On Monday, The American College of Radiology issued a statement slamming actor Tom Cruise for performing unsupervised ultrasounds on his pregnant girlfriend Katie Holmes using an ultrasound machine he reportedly purchased for $200,000. Cruise claims he is qualified because he 'read the manual' that came with the machine. In most states, ultrasound machines are medically regulated devices which require a physicians order to obtain and operate. This, apparently, isn't the case in California, although a new bill (AB 2360) has been introduced in the state legislature to correct this oversight. Link
