Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 7 RC1

On Friday, August 25, 2006 Microsoft made the first Release Candidate (RC1) version of Internet Explorer 7 available for download. Microsoft says this will likely be the last test version of Internet Explorer 7 released before the final production version ships later this year.

There are no new features or major changes to the User Interface from the Beta 3 version. However, it does include several bug fixes and tune-ups which offer noticeable performance improvements.

There is one change of note. When installing RC1, any older beta versions of the software will be automatically uninstalled first (which will require a reboot before installation will continue). With previous beta releases, any old version would have to be manually uninstalled first.
